John Guarino is President, Managing Partner of Peregrine Market Access. John has over 30 years of experience in market access on both the agency and manufacturer sides. John brings a career’s worth of insight to the organization, along with a successful track record of working with commercial payers, Medicaid, Medicare, specialty retail and mail order, global access teams, trade, hospital systems, IDNs, access and reimbursement, and HUB services. His specialties also include launching new products, developing and implementing strategic marketing plans, and navigating FDAMA 114 issues regarding formulary decision-maker strategy and marketing. He has unparalleled experience in payer strategy and marketing.

Prior to founding Peregrine Market Access, John created and ran Guarino Haskins Market Access for Omnicom, and was Managing Director, Managed Markets, at inVentiv Health where he oversaw the growth of a small division brand agency, Palio into an enterprise-level agency with an unrivaled ability to win and service payer business. He was eventually transferred into corporate and made responsible for all market access for the enterprise. John spent 20 years at Amgen. As the Director of Payer Segment Marketing at Amgen, John was responsible for overseeing his team’s implementation of all marketing to corporate payer customers, including commercial payers, Medicaid, Medicare, specialty retail, PBM, and IDN/Institutional customers. He worked with a global team to create corporate strategy for all Amgen brands. Together, John and his team managed the development and execution of all marketing messages to corporate customers.

John is an industry-recognized leader in the area of managed markets and is passionate about his work. 

Dr. Jim Mittler, PhD is a Partner, Director of Medical Strategy and Health Economics. Jim is a well-versed medical strategist who provides clinical, scientific, and health economic insights that drive marketing and advertising communications for physicians, patients, and payers. He has expertise in many therapeutic areas, including multiple sclerosis, HIV, nephrology, oncology, diabetes, and respiratory disease. Mittler’s 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical advertising extends through all phases of the product life cycle—from market development and launch positioning to late life cycle management for both US and global brands. Mittler brings more than a decade of market access marketing experience to Peregrine with expertise in value proposition development and healthcare economic modeling.

Mittler began his career with inVentiv Health as a medical writer and advanced to become vice president, medical director, and lead medical strategist for one of the company’s West Coast offices. At inVentiv Health Managed Markets, Mittler was Senior Vice President, Director of Medical Strategy, and served on the Senior Leadership Team to guide the overall direction of the agency. Most recently, Mittler ran Elixir Medical Marketing, a medical strategy consultancy, for several years. An immunologist by training, Mittler has more than 12 years of clinical- and research-based experience in both immunology and oncology and is an expert in the area of cellular immunity.

Brian Ward, MBA is a Partner, Director of Operations at Peregrine Market Access. Brian has more than 20 years of proven marketing, management and operations experience in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on market access and patient support. His understanding of product launch strategies and execution across multiple therapeutic areas has made him an effective business partner.

Ward comes to Peregrine Markets Access after 7 years with Syneos Health Managed Markets Communications where he served as account director, account services. He spent the previous 18 years as executive director of operations for Tribune Media Services, Inc.; Ward led a 400-employee division into a self-directed, high performance work team. He developed and implemented business and marketing strategies to pursue and capture revenue contracts, while retaining existing accounts. He formulated plans to expand business through complex proposals and identified opportunities to further business goals and participated in the development of new products contributing to consistent revenue growth. Ward was also involved in global strategic planning to maximize corporate brand.

Scott Neverett, SHRM-CP is a Partner, Director of Human Resources and Corporate Culture at Peregrine Market Access. In this role, Scott is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management. He has been in the HR field for nearly 20 years, with the majority of his experience being in recruitment/talent acquisition. Prior to Peregrine, Scott worked for the last 10 years in the field of advertising and marketing; holding positions of increased responsibility at Syneos Health.

Scott has a BA in Psychology/Elementary Education and a M. Ed. from The State University of New York at Potsdam where he was also a member of the men’s soccer team. Scott holds a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) Certification.

Mary Pietryga, MBA is a Partner, Director of Strategic Marketing at Peregrine Market Access. Mary is an experienced and creative business executive with a diversified background in the pharmaceutical/bioscience and medical device industry. Her career spans across commercial sales, payer access and pricing and strategic marketing. This unique background has enabled her to develop and lead the execution of multiple successful product launches and brand growth strategies. Additionally, her experiences in market access which includes negotiating payer contracts as a National Account Executive for Merck & Co, Inc. and having successfully led National Account Executive field teams for Sanofi strengthens our ability at Peregrine to design meaningful, actionable value-based marketing strategies in support of our client’s business goals and objectives.

Prior to joining Peregrine, Mary was an officer and Corporate Vice President for both midsized and major Fortune 500 companies such as Sanofi and Teva Pharmaceuticals. Her passion to further innovation and access to important medicines for providers and patients stems over 25 years of commercial corporate leadership domestically and abroad. Consistent advancement in roles of greater responsibility in Marketing, Sales and Market Access and Pricing with such companies as Merck & Co, Inc. and Johnson & Johnson has fueled her desire to join Peregrine. It is the opportunity to partner with corporations and share insights and strategies that will lead ultimately increase access to important medical advances, enhance outcomes and drive commercial success that moved her to become a Partner with the agency.

Mary received her BA in Mathematics and Physical Science from Michigan State University and an M.B.A from Villanova University.

Lisette Garrison is the Chief Financial Officer at Peregrine Market Access. Lisette is an experienced financial officer with a diverse background in the pharmaceutical industry, bringing her experience and expertise in a high-growth environment to Peregrine. As CFO, Lisette leads the accounting, finance and procurement functions within the agency. She focuses on the evolution of financial and operational systems that will scale growth while also maintaining a dynamic culture.

Prior to joining Peregrine, Lisette has spent the past eight years creating the financial and operational building blocks at Fingerpaint Marketing. After being the second finance hire at Fingerpaint in 2013, Lisette spent her days developing a team, and managing financial operations and acquisitions. Additionally, she was imperative to the design and implementation of processes throughout the agency, which allowed the business to grow successfully year-over-year.
